Support and Resources for Communicating at UCSF

Welcome to the Communicators Network. This is a forum for employees involved in communications to share knowledge and resources, develop and distribute best practices, and coordinate internal and external communications.

The term "communicator" is loosely defined as any employee who may be responsible for internal and/or external communications activities, either part-time or full-time.  If you're engaged in communicating to large groups of people at UCSF, we invite you to join the Communicators Network.

Founded in 2008 by the School of Medicine as a peer support group with 36 members across UCSF, today the network has grown to more than 400 members who include editors, writers, marketing managers, webmasters, administrative assistants, and many other roles.

Now managed by the Office of Communications, the Communicators Network offers opportunities to connect with colleagues both online and in-person.

How to Participate

Join the Microsoft Teams Group

As of December 2020, we are currently transitioning to communicate via Microsoft Teams. Like Chatter, this is our most active forum, a platform to ask the community any questions, get opinions, discuss best practices, and share relevant news and information.

Please be mindful when posting about events and other promotional items and only post items that will be of wide interest to the UCSF community.

Attend a Networking Event

The Communicators Network hosts several events for professional development and networking throughout the year.

  • Lunch & Learns: One-hour "brown bag lunch" presentations on a particular communications topic. Topics can be proposed by Communicators Network members.
  • Communicators' Conference: A full-day conference featuring keynotes and breakout sessions on brand strategy, digital, design and other topics.
  • Holiday Party: An annual celebration of our community, featuring the announcement of the Communicator of the Year Award.
